With the recent problems with Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphone batteries (read: exploding batteries) smartphone users are more aware than ever of the potential for overheating electronics.
Overheating, trickle charging and, of course, overcharging are a major concern when juicing up your electronic devices. And let’s be honest here, a simple plug-in-the-wall charger with no cut-off sensor isn’t very smart. In fact, it’s dumb.
With the new Raboo Smart Charger someone has finally found the proper marriage of “smart” and “charging.” This state-of-the-art charger is looking to disrupt the battery charging industry with their smart charging feature.
As I said most chargers, especially the one that comes with your iPhone or Samsung phone (yikes) are simple plug-in-and-charge adaptors. There’s no intelligence in it. With a brilliant piece of technology like a smartphone you’d expect a charger to match wits.
The Raboo Smart Charger actually communicates with the device it’s charging through Bluetooth. It’s pretty simple to use. Start by downloading the accompanying Raboo app from either the App Store or Google Play.
Once you open the app it will automatically connect to the charger through Bluetooth. At this point you’ve established communication between your device and the charger so you’re ready to go.
First it charges your device to 100% (obviously). Once it reaches full charge it stops flowing power, preventing your phone from overheating.
Your battery will then begin discharging as all batteries do but once it hits a default threshold, say 80%, it will begin charging again. This threshold is adjustable according to your desires.
With this set-up you can leave your phone charging for hours (like overnight) without burning your fingers on a hot phone when you go back to it. This ebb and flow charging allows you to prolong battery life while also saving a bit on your electricity bill.
Now this intelligent charger’s app gives you an insight into your battery habits and recommends settings to help get the most out of your charging. Through various analytics and other data harvesting (don’t worry it’s kept simple and non-technical) you can get a clear view of how you should be charging your devices.
In a world obsessed with IOT (Internet of Things), the Raboo Smart Charger couldn’t be more welcome.
They are currently running a Kickstarter campaign in order to bring this much-needed product to market. Head over to the kickstarter to pre-order your Raboo Smart Charger today.
